Cleanup coordinator

We are looking for proactive and dedicated Cleanup Coordinators across the country to join our team.

We are looking for proactive and dedicated Cleanup Coordinators across the country to join our team. This volunteer role is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental action and community engagement to make a real difference in their local areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise Local Cleanups: Plan and execute ocean and coastal cleanups in your local area in collaboration with the Nordic Ocean Watch team.

  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Coordinate with local organizations, companies, municipalities, and public authorities to arrange and facilitate cleanups.

  • Community Outreach: Engage with local volunteers, promote the cleanups, and encourage participation from community members.

  • Independent Task Management: Take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and carrying out cleanups with minimal supervision, ensuring all details are handled smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and volunteers.

  • A proactive and outgoing attitude, with the ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.

  • Experience in project coordination or event planning is a plus but not required.

  • Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement.

Minimum Commitment

The workload varies throughout the year, but you can expect to dedicate 3-5 hours per week. Please note that NOW Denmark is a volunteer organisation, and all work is carried out on a volunteer basis.

Knowledge Sharing team member

We are looking for a new volunteer to help us educate, inspire, and engage our Ocean Watchers about the marine environment and ocean pollution.

Specific Requests and Information

We are looking for a new volunteer to join the Knowledge Sharing Team at Nordic Ocean Watch Denmark and help us educate, inspire, and engage our Ocean Watchers about the marine environment and ocean pollution.

In this role, you will help translate marine science into accessible and engaging communication for a wider audience. You will work closely with the knowledge sharing team while also taking responsibility for independent writing and development tasks.

We are specifically looking for someone with a scientific background in marine or environmental sciences. This could include studies or experience in oceanography, marine biology, environmental science, ecology, or a closely related field. A strong understanding of marine systems and environmental processes is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write engaging and scientifically grounded articles and blog posts about ocean pollution and marine ecosystems

  • Develop and contribute to educational materials and outreach content on ocean health

  • Help ensure scientific accuracy and relevance across our communication and educational work

  • Translate complex marine science into clear, engaging, and inspiring content for different audiences

  • Collaborate with the knowledge sharing team on ongoing projects and new initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Academic background or current studies in marine science, oceanography, environmental science, ecology, or a related scientific field

  • Strong understanding of marine ecosystems and/or pollution-related processes

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and engagingly

  • Strong writing skills in English (Danish is an advantage but not required)

  • Experience with science communication, education, or outreach is an advantage

  • Passion for ocean conservation and knowledge sharing

Minimum Commitment

We expect an average commitment of around 2 hours per week, with flexibility depending on ongoing projects and activities.

Social Media Coordinator

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Social Media Coordinator to join our Communications team.

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Social Media Coordinator to join our Communications team. This volunteer role is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about visual storytelling and digital engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Scheduling: Develop, plan, and manage a consistent publishing schedule across various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Branding & Visual Communication: Create visually compelling posts that align with our brand’s tone and message. A strong sense of visual branding and the ability to craft engaging narratives are essential.

  • Analytics & Trend Monitoring: Monitor social media analytics to gauge the effectiveness of content and adjust strategies accordingly. Stay informed on the latest social media trends to ensure our campaigns are timely and impactful.

  • Community Engagement: Interact with our online community by responding to comments and messages, fostering a sense of connection, and promoting our mission through positive engagement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and their respective best practices.

  • Strong writing and storytelling abilities with a flair for visual branding.

  • Ability to interpret analytics and modify strategies to optimize performance.

  • A proactive, creative mindset with an eye for detail.

  • Previous experience in managing social media accounts is preferred but not required.

Freelance Photographer

Join our freelance photographer team – capture the Ocean Watchers in action!

SPECIFIC REQUESTS AND INFORMATION

As a freelance volunteer photographer, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality images at our various events to be used on our social media channels, website, and for branding purposes. Since we do not have access to photography equipment, you will need to provide your own gear.

Visual storytelling is a key part of our communication, so we are looking for someone with creativity and a strong sense of visual branding to engage our audience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture high-quality photos at events and activities

  • Ensure images align with our visual identity and storytelling goals

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in photography and basic photo editing

  • Access to and proficiency with photography equipment

  • Creative mindset with an eye for composition and storytelling

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Legal advisor

We are looking for a Danish-speaking volunteer Legal Advisor with a background in organisational and non-profit work

Specific Requests and Information

We are looking for a volunteer Legal Advisor with experience in organisational and non-profit work. This role is ideal for a jurist or lawyer passionate about conservation and eager to support us in maintaining compliance and building strong partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Review & Drafting: Oversee and provide input on official documents, policies, and agreements.

  • Partnership Agreements: Draft, review, and manage partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding.

  • Compliance & Legal Guidance: Advise on legal obligations and ensure all operations are in line with Danish laws for non-profits.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A degree in law or equivalent legal experience, with a focus on contract law or non-profit work.

  • Fluency in Danish and the ability to read, understand, and interpret official Danish legal texts and legislation.

  • Experience drafting and reviewing contracts and organisational policies.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.

  • Interest in supporting environmental and conservation efforts.

Podcast Manager

We are looking for a creative and motivated Podcast Manager to join our team.

Specific Requests and Information

We are looking for a creative and motivated Podcast Manager to join our team. This volunteer role is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about storytelling, podcast production, and raising awareness about ocean conservation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Podcast Production: Oversee the end-to-end process of podcast production, from concept development to recording, editing, and publishing episodes.

  • Content Creation & Planning: Collaborate with the team to identify relevant topics and guests for the podcast. Develop engaging scripts and outlines that educate listeners about ocean conservation, marine biology, and environmental issues.

  • Guest Coordination: Reach out to potential interviewees, such as experts, activists, and marine biologists, and manage communication and scheduling for interviews.

  • Technical Management: Ensure high-quality audio production by handling recording equipment, editing software, and audio platforms. Experience with podcast editing software (such as Audacity or Adobe Audition) is a plus.

  • Promotion & Engagement: Promote the podcast on social media platforms and engage with listeners to build a loyal audience. Coordinate with the social media team to share podcast episodes effectively.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Experience or interest in podcast production, including audio editing, scriptwriting, and content planning.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
