Sustaining Underwater Love

Sustaining Underwater Love

An immersive experience in the name of our ocean

Concept

Organised by Lot Winther - Aquarius fine artist, Bastian Piltz – Marine biologist & photographer and Mads Cornelius – Marine biologist & photographer at UngK Aarhus during Aarhus Festuge 2023.

Healthy oceans are key to sustaining life and a stable climate on our planet. They can provide solace and deep calm to the troubled human soul.
Despite this vital importance in our lives, the current system treats the underwater realm without regard – as a trashcan and source of protein and minerals.

This exhibition aims to re-kindle our love and appreciation for the underwater world by displaying its beauty, strength and fragility.
This shall speak to the activist in all of us – one aim will be to seed a local chapter of the Nordic Ocean Watch Denmark

Content

An aquatic soundscape and video installation will provide an immersive ambiance, further enhanced by smells of the sea and tang-touch-pools.

  • The walls will be showing a blend of fine art paintings, photography and decoration.

  • Art, activism & science talks will highlight the personal connection to the ocean and

    inspire.

  • Culinary highlights made with local vegetarian ingredients and tang-based specialties.

  • An ecstatic dance ceremony will connect you with the exhibition on a deeper level

and create a sense of community

The event will be held at UngK Aarhus during Aarhus Festuge 2023. It will be free entry and open to everyone.

Art

  • Lot Winter - Aquarius fine artist @lotwintherstudio

Food & Bar

  • Mads & Bastian – Tang snacks

  • UngK Bar – Beer & Softdrinks

Music

Ecstatic dance

A facilitated meditative and free dance form where we dance sober to electronic music.

To bring us into the moment, there are no shoes and no talking. Dancers are all people who are there - it is fine not to move and follow the internal dance :)

Sound by LUNI as known from Ecstatic Dance Aarhus

Klimasejlads – Sammen kan vi gøre en forskel

Meet Nordic Ocean Watch team member Giovanna Albani at Climate Sailing in Holbæk 29th of April 2023 at 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 pm

Organised by Ung Holbæk, Lucerna - Uddannelses, kultur og iværksætterhus, and Søfart og Maritime Håndværk, Nationalmuset, Climate Sailing helps to investigate and focus on what we as individual citizens and the municipality can actually do for our local environment, and what significance it can have in the big picture. It is an event about the marine ecosystem and creating awareness about Isefjord marine environmental status! There are going to be different stands and workshops about seaweed and marine ecosystem between those you will find Giovanna! Giovanna is an oceanographer and cleanup coordinator at Nordic Ocean Watch Denmark and she will have a stand and workshop at the event to talk about marine pollution in the environment!

The stand will be an interactive space open to the public, visiting the event. The idea is to invite people and children to connect with organic material such as seaweed from Isefjord and objects collected along the coastline. These elements will be used to weave an actual picture of the coastal-marine ecosystem. Indeed, the public will be invited to create their own pattern and design using the materials available (seaweed, plastic, string, threat). Once completed they can bring it home or continue to work on it.The idea comes to develop a social and personal awareness of our surroundings, especially the marine ecosystem and the impact that we have on it.

The event is free of charge and do not require registration.

Activities at port:
• Clothes swap market with Lucerna
• Tasting of seaweed salad
• Bogstaveligtalt and Holbæk youth climate council combine poetry with biodiversity
• UngHavn communicates about the state of the fjord and creates interactive information
• Hawiila does workshops with crafts and printing on clothes
• Maritim 10. presents their solar boat and talks about sustainable sailing
• Danish Nature Conservation Association, HavHøst, Holbæk's Grønne Lunge, Dansk Tang etc. communicate about the state of the fjord
• It will also be possible to buy food and coffee
